Thomas the Apostle

Thomas, the ApostleThomas the Apostle, also called Doubting Thomas or Didymus (“Twin”). He was one of the Twelve Apostles of Jesus. A couple of centuries later a story was circulating in the Mediterranean world that he had gone to preach in INDIA; and there is a Christian community in India (Kerala) that claims descent from Christians converted by the preaching of Thomas.

St. Francis Xavier

St.Francis XavierBorn on 7 April 1506, at Javier, Navarre, Spain.He was a student of Saint Ignatius Loyola and one of the first seven Jesuits who dedicated themselves to the service of God at Montmarte in 1534.

He led an extensive mission into Asia, mainly in the Asian Portuguese empire of the time. He was influential in the spreading and upkeep of Catholicism most notably in India (in Goa), but also ventured into Japan, Borneo, the Malaccas, and other areas of Asia. Died on 3 December 1552, at Shangchuan Island, China.
